[TeenMinistry] Swimming!

We are going Swimming! Yes, Swimming! In Summer!

The Lallathin's have been gracious enough to open up their pool for the Middle School to go swimming in and have lots of fun in. So, here's what you need to know:

- It's for Middle School (we will be inviting 5th graders too)
- Sunday, July 19th RIGHT AFTER Classes
- We will be leaving right after morning classes and returning by 4:30 PM

- You need to bring Youth Group Approved Swim Wear: (For instance, no two piece swim wear)

Here's what you need to bring:

- A Youth Group Approved Swim wear (Obviously you need this to go swimming - we will have t-shirts for those who do not have a modest swimsuit)
- A towel (On which to dry yourself after you have been swimming)
- Sunscreen (To Prevent Sunburn)
- 1$ (To help with gas)

- Chaperones will be Charles & Mike as well as the Lallathins

AND

If you are a guy, you need to bring a liter of the soda of your choice and a bag of chips of your choice.
If you are a gal, you need to bring a dessert or side dish of your preference that would go well with hot dogs.

If you have any questions, either email me at crp07c@acu.edu, or call me at 314.604.4079.

[TeenMinistry] Wednesday Night Class

Because we have a dozen of us in Memphis for the Mission Trip, several who will be in Kidsfest Training, as well as several out of town on vacation, our Wednesday night Youth Group “class” will be with the adults in the Adult worship class tomorrow night (Wednesday - 6/10).

Because of the Cross,

Mike

[TeenMinistry] Memphis WorkCamp

We are having an awesome week!  Over 300 teens are here working on 20 houses in the City of Memphis.  There are 13 of us here from Lafayette.  Scraping the houses were the order of the day today.  Tomorrow we break out the brushes.  Stories are forming of people in the neighborhoods we are serving in seeing Christ in these teens.  We have had two powerful worship services – it “funny” that when you are tirelessly serving others, somehow worshiping the Lord becomes much more authentic because our attitudes and focus are completely off of ourselves and on the one who deserves all glory!  Lafayette, you can be proud of your teens representing you  - not only in Memphis – but in the body life at Lafayette.

Because of the Cross,

Mike

[TeenMinistry] Memphis Work Camp & Wednesday Night

Teen Ministry Mailing List,

A few reminders about Memphis Work Camp:

If you haven't already paid for Work Camp, you need to do so ASAP. If you have not paid, Tonight, (Wednesday) would be a great time to do so since you will see me at Church tonight. Also, if you are going to Work Camp, you need to make sure you have a paint brush with you when we leave Monday. This is the only supply that every individual needs to bring with them on their own.

A final note from me today about Work Camp: Start getting excited now! We will be helping a lot of people at Work Camp do things that they aren't able to do with their houses. Be exited to share Jesus' love with them!

Tonight we are going to the nursing home, be sure to bring your singing voices and a smile!

I look forward to seeing everyone tonight!

In Him,
Charles R. Portwood II

[TeenMinistry] Mission Trip - WE NEED LADDERS

There are 12 of us going on our Mission Trip to Memphis this Summer! It's
looking like it's going to be a great time! I will be sending another
e-mail out with more details about the trip.

THIS EMAIL is to ask for ladders. Each person is supposed to bring their
own ladder on the trip. We are in need of borrowing a few ladders since not
everyone has a reliable one (we have a couple of families with multiple kids
going too). The can be extension or step ladders. They just need to be
less than 12 feet when folded so they will fit in the trailer.

If you can help - we need them no later than Sunday, June 7. Please contact
our intern, Charles at 314.604.4079 or Charles@teenepic.org if you can help.

[TeenMinistry] Summer Teen Classes

Our Summer Classes are gearing up!

Our Sunday Morning Middle School will be taught this summer by our intern,
Charles Portwood, and begins this Sunday, May 31. The title of the Class is
"Basics of the Faith". The topics will include:

. Confident in Christ: How to Know Your Are Saved

. What a Book!: Understanding the Importance of the Bible

. Let's Communicate: How to Talk to God

. He's the Boss: How to Let God Lead You

. The Big Test: How to Handle Temptation

. Here Comes Trouble: How to Benefit From Life's Problems

. Give It Away: How to Share Your Faith

. Friends Forever: How to Build Positive Relationships

Our Sunday Morning Sr. High will take a little different twist this summer.
Beginning June 7, Ed Allstun and Greg Malcolm will be teaching from C.S.
Lewis' book "Mere Christianity". This is a classic Christian Apologetics
book that I personally think our Sr. High is up to reading! In fact, when
we took a straw poll last Sunday in class a dozen of them said they would
read it over the summer! You go guys! (I haven't read it in years so I
will commit to reading it with you).

The books are in and I will pass them out tonight. As we mentioned Sunday
morning, if you have $10 to donate to help with the cost of the books,
that's great - if you do not but WILL read it, even better! These are nice
hardback books that also includes Lewis' "Screwtape Letters" which I think
you will find a great read as well! If we run out we can get more.

Our Wednesday Nights are still Youth Group Nights where we will continue to
talk about Covenant and Community, go to the nursing home, work in small
groups, have devotionals and play games before and after our time is up.
Wednesday nights are the best time to connect with one another - try to make
being here a priority!
