[TeenMinistry] Volleyball teams

Volleyball Tournament Information

PARENTS/ADULTS - I am in need of a few “scholarships”.  If you would like to make a donation to camp, it will allow us to have smaller teams, get more people playing and get more money to camp. Please see me if you can help! We are charging $5 per kid and it cost $50 to enter a team…if we only have teams of 6 (which allows them to play more) we still need $20 per team otherwise we have to make teams of 10.   We need to help a few with $ for a couple of meals too.

A few details

·         We leave after morning classes this Sunday and should return by 7:15 PM.

·         Bring:  blankets/lawn chairs to sit on, $ for lunch and dinner, card games, etc

·         You will have time to change your clothes after class.

I am really impressed that some of you are going even though you have no desire to play.  You are some of the ones in our group who are really getting that it’s not about the event, it’s about being together and building those relationships!  Keep up the good work!!!

DRIVERS

I have Deb Leahy, Lynn Rardin, Daryl Simmons and Kandie Simmons who are available to drive (let me know if that is not right or if you’re planning on driving and your name is not on here)

I am putting together final teams for volleyball.  Please check your info below to make sure it’s correct.  I will be making final teams up tomorrow night after classes.

·         I need to know who Tucker N. is – is someone bringing him?

·         If your name is on the list below and you can’t go, please let me know – WE WILL BE COUNTING ON YOU – not just for teams but for rides too!!!

Here are the folks I have signed up:

[TeenMinistry] Dads / Moms / Sons / Daughters

INTENTIONAL PARENTING!

Dads – you need to be listening to this!  It’s time to step up in our families.  It’s time to lead!  It’s time to fight for your family!  The culture is pulling your family in all directions away from God!  It’s time to stand up and say “No More!”

Moms – if you have to listen to this first to encourage your husband, please invest the time!  SINGLE MOMS – after you listen to this, let’s talk about options for you.

Sons – this explains the kind of Godly young man you need to be becoming!

Daughters – Don’t settle for less than what God wants to bless you with!

At the following link there is a 4-part series that every parent and child needs to listen to!  Parents, you will be blessed!  The author of the book “What He Must Be If He Wants To Marry My Daughter” is being interviewed

[TeenMinistry] Kidsquest and Nursery Volunter Information FOR TEENS!!!

Kathy asked me to pass this along to our teen volunteers…Teens – thanks for all you help!!!

KidsQuest Small Group Leader Volunteer Training

There will be training for all those wishing to volunteer as a small group leader on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 6:15 to 6:55 p.m. in the library. You must attend if you plan to volunteer for the 2009-2010 school year. If you would like to volunteer and are unable to make the training you need to make arrangements with me to train at another time.

We will discuss expectations of small group leaders at the training as well as having a sign-up sheet for the units between September 13 and the end of December. There will be three units between now and the end of the year. You may sign-up for a unit (consisting of four to five lessons, there are only two lessons in the December unit) or to volunteer for the entire time.

There will only be one KidsQuest large group on Sunday mornings but children will be divided into age groups during small group time.

There are a limited number of volunteer positions available.

Note: Only those teens scheduled to volunteer in KidsQuest on Sunday’s will be allowed in the Big Room during Worship beginning September 13.

All teens are welcome to come to the Big Room from 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. on KidsQuest Sunday’s to sing with the children.

Nursery Volunteers Needed

I am currently revising the Sunday morning Nursery schedule. Teens this is an opportunity to serve the youngest members of our congregation as well as our visitors. Many of you are already serving in this way but I am currently revising the schedule and want to give others the opportunity to serve.

Email me we your willingness to serve on a rotation in the Nursery or your intention to attend the volunteer training for KidsQuest.

[TeenMinistry] Roger - our Compassion Child

You all are doing great with Roger’s contributions!  We have been sponsoring him for 6 months and we are ahead in contributions by 5 months.  You all agreed a few weeks ago to send extra money to the family.  We will be doing that as a Christmas donation in September or October!  You guys are awesome!  If you haven’t seen it, there is a note on the TeenRoom Door from Roger.  Thanks to Chelsea Hirth for getting this going and to Renee’ Aston for heading this up!  Keep bringing that change!

[TeenMinistry] Wednesday Night Class

Because we have a dozen of us in Memphis for the Mission Trip, several who will be in Kidsfest Training, as well as several out of town on vacation, our Wednesday night Youth Group “class” will be with the adults in the Adult worship class tomorrow night (Wednesday - 6/10).

Because of the Cross,

Mike

[TeenMinistry] Memphis WorkCamp

We are having an awesome week!  Over 300 teens are here working on 20 houses in the City of Memphis.  There are 13 of us here from Lafayette.  Scraping the houses were the order of the day today.  Tomorrow we break out the brushes.  Stories are forming of people in the neighborhoods we are serving in seeing Christ in these teens.  We have had two powerful worship services – it “funny” that when you are tirelessly serving others, somehow worshiping the Lord becomes much more authentic because our attitudes and focus are completely off of ourselves and on the one who deserves all glory!  Lafayette, you can be proud of your teens representing you  - not only in Memphis – but in the body life at Lafayette.

Because of the Cross,

Mike

[TeenMinistry] Memphis Work Camp & Wednesday Night

Teen Ministry Mailing List,

A few reminders about Memphis Work Camp:

If you haven't already paid for Work Camp, you need to do so ASAP. If you have not paid, Tonight, (Wednesday) would be a great time to do so since you will see me at Church tonight. Also, if you are going to Work Camp, you need to make sure you have a paint brush with you when we leave Monday. This is the only supply that every individual needs to bring with them on their own.

A final note from me today about Work Camp: Start getting excited now! We will be helping a lot of people at Work Camp do things that they aren't able to do with their houses. Be exited to share Jesus' love with them!

Tonight we are going to the nursing home, be sure to bring your singing voices and a smile!

I look forward to seeing everyone tonight!

In Him,
Charles R. Portwood II
