[TeenMinistry] Prayers for Abby Turnbough

I got this note from Abby Turnbough – please keep her in your prayers.

 

 

I broke my arm (broken ulna and spiral fracture in the radius) last night tumbling at cheer legends. :( I was doing backhandsprings and my arm gave out and snapped in the shape of a W. I rode by ambulance to the ER and was sedated. My arm was realigned as much as they could, and I have a temporary cast/ sling until Monday, when they will check the alignment and decide whether or not I need surgery to insert pins. I'll have a cast and absolutely no physical activity for 3 months at least ( that is the healing process without the pins.. If I get pins, it will extend my inactivity). I guess on the plus side I'll have a pretty pink cast that my friends can sign and I don't have to do gym!! Haha. I love you all.. I'll see you hopefully on Sunday if all goes well! (:

[TeenMinistry] Winterfest Reminder

Just a reminder that to guarantee a spot on the Winterfest trip, your money is due THIS SUNDAY!!!   I will not be there but you can give your money to Staci Noyes (she will be working in the nursery) OR Whitney deSambourg on Sunday.  If you miss them, you can put it in the Teen Ministry Box located in the kitchen.  I will need to register with Winterfest next Monday – after that you are not guaranteed a spot AND the price goes up.

 

No forms needed right now…just your money (if you’re giving cash put it in an envelope with your name on it).    If you’re getting a T-shirt, make sure you put the size on the check or envelope.

[TeenMinistry] WINTERFEST INFO - Reminder

Just a reminder for all who are going out of town for the Christmas holiday…take care of your Winterfest registration tonight or this Sunday.

 

All the information is below:

  • $50 non-refundable deposit due by 12/28 guarantees you a spot
  • If you pay by then the cost is $130 + $8 if you want a t-shirt
  • After the 28th, the cost is $136 + $12 for a t-shirt

 

Please note: we are not doing the concert this year…it’s $10 more and we already have some struggling with finances.

DETAILS WHAT: Winterfest is a huge youth rally in Gatlinburg, TN. It has been going for over 20 years and has 12,000 teens and sponsors (mostly from Churches of Christ) from across the country. Jeff Walling is the main speaker, if you’ve never heard Jeff, you’re really missing out! DATE: February 20-22, 2009 TIMES: LEAVE 5 AM on 2/20 ARRIVE: approximately 9 PM on 2/22 COST: $130 ($50 non-refundable reserves your spot) if you want a T-shirt, it’s $8 more which needs to be with your deposit. AFTER December 28 the cost is $136 and the T-shirt is $12. INCLUDES: Transportation, Lodging, WF Registration WHO: 6th—12th grade GUARANTEED: Pay your deposit by December 28, you are guaranteed a spot. What else do you need? Money for meals Fri, Sat & Sunday (7-9 meals) souvenirs, and perhaps a go-kart ride or something during free time on Saturday. regular toiletry items changes of clothes—not full wardrobe—see packing info below. possibly a sleeping bag and pillow and towel. Need to know: You will need to miss a day of school on Friday, February 20—I can provide a letter for you to give to your school upon request. Space is limited, so you will want to sign up and pay your deposit ASAP!!! If money is a problem, talk to Mike, we can work on scholarships. I must have your $50 (or $58 if you’re getting a T-shirt) deposit to reserve your spot!!! Packing Space is VERY limited—if you sign up, you must understand that you will be expected to pack minimally in duffle bags...there just isn’t enough room to take your entire wardrobe in large suitcases. Bring a “carry-on” for stuff you will need while traveling. “Can I bring a friend?”—yes, they must have a parent release form on file. “i-pod?” - no, ok but only to be played with entire group no buds in ears. It cuts down on you talking and communicating (i.e. building relationships) when you listen to your own stuff the whole way there. “cell phone?” - yes, but only for emergency and communicating with parents at home...not to talk to your friends who couldn’t go to Winterfest all weekend. Might like to know: We’re staying in condos that sleep 6 to 8—you may be asked to bring a sleeping bag depending on the size of the group. The condo is about 5 blocks from the convention center. We will be doing a lot of walking...bring comfortable shoes. We don’t have a lot of space, so getting an entire seat in the van for you to sleep is not likely. We will finalize transportation after December 28—depending on the size of the group there may still be room As always, seatbelts are required—including shoulder straps, if you don’t like this rule, your parents are free to drive you (however they will have to get their own lodging) :)

[TeenMinistry] TABS this Sunday

TABS this Sunday.  We will leave the building by 4:45 and return by 8:15.  Sign up on the Teen Room door tonight or Sunday morning.  We have 14 spots on the van.

 

If we have more than 14 sign up (which is possible), I will need a parent to drive or we will have to limit the number that can go to the 1st 14 that sign up.   If you can’t be there tonight, e-mail me back and I will sign you up.
